O Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) e sistemas de gestão da segurança: uma abordagem integrada para gerenciar a segurança no cuidado de saúde
O Organismo de Investigação da Segurança em Serviços de Saúde (Health Services Safety Investigations Body, HSSIB) foi estabelecido no Reino Unido pelo Health and Care Act de 2022 como um novo organismo independente que substitui o antigo Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch. O HSSIB existe para ajudar a reduzir os danos a pacientes, procurando entender as interações complexas que existem no cuidado de saúde e que podem levar à ocorrência de eventos de segurança do paciente. Em outras indústrias nas quais a segurança é um elemento crítico, são usados sistemas de gestão da segurança (SGSs) para realizar avaliações proativas de riscos, especificar como esses riscos devem ser gerenciados e estabelecer linhas claras de responsabilidade e prestação de contas para enfrentá-los. O HSSIB começou a explorar como um SGS pode ser usado no cuidado de saúde para equipar melhor o sistema para identificar e responder de forma proativa às preocupações emergentes e recorrentes que possam afetar a segurança do paciente.
The Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) was established by the Health and Care Act 2022 as a new non-departmental arm's length body, replacing the former Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch. HSSIB exists to help reduce patient harm by understanding the complex interactions that exist within healthcare that may lead to patient safety events occurring. In other safety critical industries, a safety management system (SMS) approach is used to help enable proactive assessments of risks, specification of how risks should be managed, and set clear lines of accountability and responsibility in addressing risks. HSSIB has begun to explore how an SMS may operate in healthcare to help better equip the system to identify, respond, and proactively identify emerging and recurring concerns that may impact on the safety of patients.
