Atualização das Diretrizes para a Prevenção de Infecções de Sítio Cirúrgico (2017) do Comitê Consultivo sobre Práticas de Controle de Infecções dos Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: resumo, revisão e estratégias de implementação
As infecções de sítio cirúrgico ainda são uma causa comum de morbidade, mortalidade e maior tempo de internação e custos entre pacientes internados nos Estados Unidos. Este artigo resume as evidências que serviram como base para as Diretrizes para a Prevenção de Infecções de Sítio Cirúrgico (2017) do Comitê Consultivo sobre Práticas de Controle de Infecções dos Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, destacando as principais atualizações e novas recomendações. Também apresentamos sugestões específicas sobre como os especialistas em prevenção de infecções podem desempenhar um papel central na implementação de diretrizes, transformando essas recomendações em políticas e práticas baseadas em evidências em suas unidades de saúde.
Surgical site infections remain a common cause of morbidity, mortality, and increased length of stay and cost amongst hospitalized patients in the United States. This article summarizes the evidence used to inform the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee Guideline for the Prevention of Surgical Site Infection (2017), and highlights key updates and new recommendations. We also present specific suggestions for how infection preventionists can play a central role in guideline implementation by translating these recommendations into evidence-based policies and practices in their facility.
